Assignment #7: Herbals, Botanicals, and Supps!

Parsley

Parsley is a herb that is used for both culinary and medicinal uses.  Putting parsley in your food provides a good source of vitamins and minerals for you and is a good extract for teas and oils.  It is used for many health concerns such as, arthritis, kidney problems, painful menses, digestive complaints and cancer.  It can also be used for inflammation, but it is very important to consult with your doctor or pharmacist before using it for inflammation or any other health conditions.

Parsley does have some side effects and may cause some headaches, convulsions, and even kidney damage.  Also, pregnant women should avoid parsley seeds, juice, or oils because it may cause a miscarriage or uterine contractions.

  1. Wow I didn't know how important parsley was, all this time I thought it was just a garnish! Sometimes it seems the most neglected foods have the most health benefits.

  2. I actually knew that parsley was so beneficial. My mom uses Parsley in most of our food and salads. It gives a great taste to the food that we eat.

  3. How interesting.. I didn't know parley had so many benefits! I also didn't know pregnant women should avoid parsley seeds, juice, or oils. This kind of makes me want to go do my extra credit post on an herb.

  4. Wow that's funny I would've never guessed how beneficial parsley was. I did this assignment but chose lavender and it helped with so many things I had no idea. There are so many botanical's and herbs that can help and no one really knows abut them unless you do a little research.

  5. I know fresh herbs in general are good for you, but I sometimes push them to the side because it seems easier to just use dried ones that i'm assuming aren't as beneficial. But after reading all these posts about how herbs are so important to your general health I am definitely going to incorporate more into my diet.

  6. I was not aware of Parsley's benefits. I like fresh parsley on my salad and on top of my soup. It gives the food great test and smell. My mom is actually growing her own parsley in backyard which we get to eat a lot.

  7. I had no idea that I could use parsley and it would help my stomach! I always get stomach aches and have a hard time digesting my food. I will definitely use parsley more often in my meals! Maybe I will even grow some :) I loved hearing about all these different herbs. I want to start a garden!
